A Toilet in the Garden of Greed

i happened to have a copy of Time, July 5th, 2004
old news
Jefferson face was on the cover
that's why i was reading it

i perused the rest of the magazine
to find an article entitled
Meet the New Jahad

here's the rub

the reporter gets into an insurgent's safe house committee meeting
so he can report from the inside
the article is exciting and flows
as you would expect from any well trained journalist
from northwestern

except the entire article is a smokescreen
designed to delude the non thinking public
who is trained never to ask crucial questions

questions like:

how do poorly educated men who are filled with anger evil attitude toward the US
manage to hold a job
and support their families
and send their kids to school
and have their toyotas maintenanced
and do the laundry

answer:
they do none of these things

so the important question:

who supports them and keeps them alive ? arms and trains them ? and keeps them motivated? to kill americans?
where does the money come from to support the lives of the insurgents?
where does the logistical support come from?
where does the leadership come from?


these questions were never addressed in this article
or in most others

why?

answers to these questions
are classified information

if they told ya
they'd probably have to kill ya

i assert:
it is impossible to wage an effective war
without a professional army
in or out of uniform
where there is an army
guerilla or otherwise
there are generals and a long chain of command
yes the insurgents are literally dying to fight
they are fighting in order to eat
they are fighting for their own survival
they live one day at a time
in a psychologically knit cluster
like starved animals
their existence is the result of someone else's
greed and usury
which have produced such scarcity in the world
as Gandhi has written
that it is imperative that their land be acquired
because underneath the imaginary virtual world of finance
they have "created"
for indeed Babylon the "Great"
is the Mother of all Greed
and the civilization which ensued
there is yet an umbilical need for something real
to provide foundation for the madness of credit
indeed no "real"value is created by usury
except the myth and deception of "virtual" value
and the insatiable need for real substance

thus starved by the same lack it produces outwardly
greed implodes inwardly
consumed by it's utter need for substance
as if gasping for breath
it lunges forth
like a frightened driven animal
acting solely on instinct
until it feels satisfied and relieved
though momentarily
until the anguish of the need
repeats itself over and over again

who has become infected by the disease of avarice
is it the west
nay, for this is indeed a global phenomenon
one which started between the tigris and the euphrates
one day when a hand reached up
and took the enticing fruit
out of the mouth of the demon snake
indeed all the people have reached the place
where
in the words of livy
we can neither bear the vice
nor the cure

it is only fitting that it all ends
where it once began
back in the toilet
as chris hedges proclaim:
"iraq is a cesspool"
the cesspool
in the middle of the garden of greed
